Earth Day is coming- Teach your little ones how to love the Planet with
LITTLE GREEN BOOKS!

These books are made from all recycled materials and are printed with vegetable or soy based inks! They are not only teaching how to be green but doing their part as well!

As a homeschool mother I love finding new books that I can incorporate into our lessons. These books are geared toward children ages 4-6, so they are great for preschool lessons! I have so many ideas and activities planned to go along with these books and Earth Day! You can find a complete printable Going green kit on their site, along with printables for each book! You can also find some cute games to let your little one play after reading the books!

It is our responsibility to teach the next generation how to care for the planet better than we currently are. It brings me great joy to know that I am raising children that love and respect this awesome place God has given us. We have reviewed several of these great little green books, and they just keep impressing me more and more. My children reach for these daily! Here are some of their amazing books!

From their Nickelodeon Big Green Help series:

"Dora explores the ways we can all make a difference and help save the planet by doing simple things at home. Diego, Boots, Mami, Papi, and all of Dora's friends get involved and share their favorite tips about what YOU can do to help!"

This is Carrot Tops absolute favorite! He loves seeing Dora helping out!

"The Wonder Pets travel to the city to save a little tree that is struggling to survive in a trash-strewn empty lot. They clean up the lot, giving the tree more sunlight and space. They nourish it with rain water from a bucket. And finally, they use teamwork to plant a wonderful garden around it with the help of their new city friends. When their work is done, the tree gives everyone a special springtime surprise!"

These books are really grab their attention because it is their favorite characters!

Made from recycled cardboard this lift the flap book is a hit!

"Follow an eco-conscious super hero as he teaches kids how to recycle and reuse common household items! The five large flaps throughout show that oridinary trash is really a treasure. From turning old clothes into fun costumes or an old box into a brand new car, kids will learn that saving the environment is super cool!"

Each page has a puzzle piece to collect so at the end of the story you can put them all together to make a puzzle(and the puzzle is two sided so they can make two different puzzles)!

"Join the fun on this interactive journey while learning to clean the air, reduce pollution, recycle, and more. Nine double-sided puzzle pieces are included in this book so kids can create two different puzzles!
"

This book is MY favorite! I love the beach, and the water so this is means alot to me. We as a family try to do a beach clean up a few times a year, and I am now planning a beach clean up with my homeschool group. I think that this book is going to be such a great inspiration for the kids before they start the clean-up. You can check out Keep America Beautiful online for more information about clean ups planned for your area!

"Kids can join Max the Little Green Monster's journey to environmental awareness and learn tips on how they can become little green monsters themselves. The interior pages of this book will be printed on 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper that's FSC-certified."

For all the little babies, a soft recycled fleece book that is fully washable. LIL loves this little book and really enjoys it as part of her meal! LOL Since she mouths everything I feel good knowing that I am controlling what toxins are going into her little body. This little book is sure to be a hit! See she is going to be such a good reader!

I just realized that for Earth Day this year my family will be at Disney to go to EPCOT to see the Flower and Garden show. So we will be appreciating nature and learning more about growing flowers and veggies and organics! If my little one was a little older we would do the Behind the Seeds tour.

During the year we will focus on
- No more plastic bags
- Grow some of our own fruits, veggies and/or herbs
- Spending more time outside
- Thinking more about composting (trying to get my husband on board)
- Consider getting a rain barrel
(would also love solar panels, but they're a little out of our price range right now)

There are so many things you could do the entire year but five are:
*Get rid of plastic bags and recycle the ones you do use if you use them.
*Go meatless at least once a week.
*Grow your own vegetables
*Unplug your electronic chargers when not in use.
*Walk more, drive less.

I follow.
For Earth Day we are planning to plant two little trees that we received as wedding favors.

1) Start using a reusable water bottle.
2) Be more diligent about using canvas bags (we use them for groceries but we could start using them other places.
3) Using the regular plates and utensils more often instead of the paper and plastic ones.
4) Switch to more environmentally friendly cleaning products.
5) Buy more organically grown fruits and veggies.
