Every Thursday you can tag along for a story plus art...............stArt hosted by A Mommy's Adventure!
This week we are leanring about ants so we read the My "A" Story, which was my book when I was a little girl.
The boys had a blast reading it and quickly went to work collecting their own A things for their box! After putting back all of the things that had pulled out, we sat down to make an ant hill/ant picture!
They started by making an ant hill out of coffee- I had planned on using dirt but if you have read my past posts you would have seen that it has been raining all day long. No dry dirt anywhere!

I had some letter A's die cuts and the boys colored them to glue on to their page. When they were all done with that, they made finger print ants with ink! While we know that red ants and black ants do not share colonies, Fast Eddy insisted they be together because all colors should live together! How great would the world be if everyone had his heart!

Here are the messy masterpieces!

Fast Eddy's HUGE( he says Go big or Go Home, where did he get that from?) anthill!!! :

I love all the ants! What fun!
What a great idea....So Cute! I think the coffee worked great (and probably smells way better than the dirt would have - I'd be smelling those projects all day lol). We are going to have to try this one sometime.
awww so cute!! Love the idea of using coffee :-)
They turned out adorable - I especially like the ants. :)
What a great idea!! Little Chick and I are going to have to do this. Thanks! Hope to see you around the Hen House!

Those turned out great!
Just gave you an award over on my blog!!
cute! Love the coffee ground idea - you don't drink coffee do you? Anyways very cute! :)
aah, they are great! And look so effective! how nice that red and black ants should live together. sigh.
Coffee grounds do look like the sand of an ant hill! Cute idea. We used chocolate pudding a few months back when making our ant hills.
I like the coffe/dirt substitution - very nice ant hills!
Cute Craft, I have read these books to our children. Great books.
