carbon neutral local offers and voucher with kaufDA.de

Did you know that blogs have a carbon footprint? I didn't! But according to a Planet Green article (a Discovery Channel website) "...a study out of Harvard University shows that the average website is responsible for 0.02 grams of carbon dioxide emissions for every visitor." WOW!! So, how can a blog that is about being green actually CONTRIBUTE to something so UN-green?!

Thankfully, there is a fix! The Planet Green article says "Given that the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change estimates a tree absorbs about 20 pounds of emissions each year -- though it is important to note that fewer emissions are absorbed in the tree's first few years of life -- even a blog with thousands of visitors a month can be carbon neutral by planting just one tree." Knowing that, Make It Green!, a company in Germany, and The Arbor Day Foundation have partnered to plant 1 tree for every blog or website that takes one of their buttons!

Making this an even better deal, the trees are being planted in the United States! The article says "To date, Make It Green! has helped the Arbor Day Foundation plant about 350 trees in Plumas National Forest, a 1- million-acre forest in northern California that was devastated by forest fires in 2007 (88,000 acres of the forest was destroyed)." Again, WOW!!! (side note: check the 'forest fires' hyperlink for an AMAZING article!)

With such an incredible pay-off for posting a single button, how could we not participate? Share this article with all your blogging friends and lets see what a difference we can make!!

Leave a comment if you make your blog carbon neutral! We will be sure to stop by, and thank you!

I did this for all three of my blogs! Like you, I had no idea that my blogging was so "un-green"!
