Amazing! I read that over and over and wow. Children come along with A LOT of equipment from bottles, toys, diapers, strollers, car seats etc etc. Their carbon footptrint is through the roof during those first 2 years. But does it have to be? Do they need all that "Stuff"? Will our children thrive without the "stuff"?

YES. Yes, They will! Obviously some of the things are necessities but the rest they can go without or trade for eco-friendly counterparts. The mom behind A Small green Footprint, started researching child and eco friendly products when she was pregnant with her first child and realized it was a lot of work finding products that fit her strict requirements. The great Earth friendly products weren't all in one place, and some were not as eco friendly as they said they were. So, A Small Green Footprint was born as a way to give other moms all the things that she wanted. I am very grateful that all the research has been done for me, and the products are in one place!!

A Small Green Footprint carries products for every aspect of baby's life. Bath time, nap time, feeding time, potty time, play time, mama time, on the go time...... it's all covered. You will find that they carry products that are as natural as they come, not modern eco friendly. Products made from wood, wool and other sustainable materials. The crunchy mama in me, was thrilled to have the chance to review a Disana Wool diaper cover. Warning: Wool is addictive.

The Disana pull on wool diaper cover is available in natural, cocoa brown, dark pink, lime green, orange, blue, navy blue and red. It is made from 100% soft merino wool, and ALL thread involved is made from raw materials. Disana products are made in Germany( VERY strict laws regarding child products, and are leaders in natural child products) and use all raw materials for their buttons, thread, tags etc. You can purchase this wool cover in 5 different sizes:
(European sizes)- These run a little big, so do not size up.

Extra Small (62-68) 6-13 poundsSmall (74-80), 11-18 pounds
Medium (86-92), 17-26 pounds
Large (98-104), 21-35 pounds
Extra Large (110-116), 30-40 pounds

This wool cover is sooo super soft. This is not your scratchy jammies wool. It perfectly hugs her legs, and tummy and has no gapping for leaks. We have the top folded over, but as she grows longer I can unfold it for more coverage. Paired with a matching top, she has a complete outfit. Wool covers are meant to be worn over a fitted or prefold cloth diaper, and has to be lanolized prior to wearing.

Quick Lanolizing

A Small Green Footprint has amazing customer service, so if you need any help just ask! Here are her directions for lanolizing:

Fill the sink 1/4 way with hot water and add a pea sized amount of lanolin. Allow it to dissolve. You might want to add a little Eucalan(wool wash with lanolin) to help it break up in the water (and not get all over your hands). Once it is dissolved, add cold water to 1/2 sink or till it is cool. I like to turn the cover inside out and then place it in the water. Swish it around (but don't agitate it) then let sit for 10 min. Leave in sink and drain sink - so that all the water flows through the cover. Squeeze water out of cover (but don't wring) then lay flat on towel and roll up in towel. Squeeze out water again. Allow to air dry. It is now lanolized.

There is no need to wash the wool cover after every pee, just lay it out to dry. Wool has many natural anti-microbial properties so no need to worry about germs. If the cover gets soiled with poop though, you have to wash. You do not need to lanolize it every wash, you can simply use Eucalan or another wool wash. After 4 times of washing with the wash, you will need to lanolize it again. Easier than you think, and well worth the efforts! Have wool fear? Get over it, or you are missing out! Wool covers keep babies so dry, and are perfect for night time or anytime. Wool is breathable so they are not hot. My babies wear wool covers in Florida in the summer, and their butts stay cool. PUL diapers in the summer leave their butts clammy and hot, but not wool. The only problem with wool covers is that they are addicting. The custom options are endless.
