On Monday I posted the original BACK 2 SCHOOL CHECK-UP Week # 2- SHOW US YOUR ORGANIZATION!! I reported no progress on the room but an appt with the window man was going to force my hand. As promised, the room is now almost ready to be put together! YAY!!!
We still haven't officially started school but I'm STILL fine with that. I am from the Old School- when summer lasted through Labor Day! We never stared school in August!
But, I digress. I am getting more and more organized each day. I bought a desk off CraigsList. Of course, it is sitting on the deck because it needs sanded and painted. Just one more thing to hold me back from getting finished (or started, depending on how you look at it!)

It will probably be Knuckles' desk as she is a Lefty. It seems to me that a Lefty would be most comfortable using it. I wonder what color she will want to paint it... I also wonder what kind of tantrum I am going to have to deal with from The Princess when she finds out that it is not hers. UGH! The joys of raising a Princess...
Yes, the window man came to measure for the new windows and found LEAD PAINT!! The windows are the old wooden ones from BACK in the day. Glad to know it is getting taken care of, though. Apparently the process requires covering 10 ft outside and 6 ft inside and everything removed from the house has to be sealed. So, I guess that explains the $1149 quote. Since I can't capitalize numbers let me put it this way: ELEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS!! Let me add it is for TWO WINDOWS!!! Minor heart attack! But, at least it is getting taken care of! No more lead paint!! (Says the lady with the GREEN blog...)
Remember Mondays pics?

Well, I am happy to report:

Might not look like much to you but... On the left is the wire rack from the bathroom. The top shelf- leaning to the left is The Princesses books and to the right is Knuckles' stuff. Second shelf is the stuff for both of them or undecided. On the bottom is some stuff I have for extras. The other 2 carts hold our supplies. YES, those are labels! Nothing special- just handwritten on index cards. But, I'm not sure what the final set-up is going to be so things might get moved around some more.
I am hoping to get everything set-up shortly. This is a major step for us, though. Now I know EXACTLY what I have/need. I am going to be working on curriculum hardcore this weekend.
Joelle at Homeschooling for His Glory made a good point that I hadn't thought of. How are WE going to stay organized FOR them. Since my kids are still so young, I am able to 'wing-it' a lot of the time! Sounds bad, but it's not like I need to re-learn about cell nuclei or the life cycle of an amoeba. We are still pretty elementary (excuse the pun) in our learning so I didn't really do a ton of prep work. Maybe I need to think about this. Post a comment or link up your opinion and stay tuned for a future blurb about this.
The Linky is still open to link up your photos and show us what you are doing to stay organized! (I'm copying it here for your convenience.)
I am going to keep the linky open for the duration of the BACK TO SCHOOL CHECK-UP. Don't forget to check out SHOW US YOUR SCHOOL ROOM!
Next week is our discussion on curriculum. Get your books around and get ready to discuss.
*****Stay tuned for the start of the BACK TO SCHOOL CHECK-UP back to school giveaways- starting this week! We have some great things coming up so you can send your kid BACK TO SCHOOL in style! And, of course, LOTS of eco-friendly supplies so your child can be GREEN & FABULOUS! (HINT: GREEN lunch, GREEN supplies, GREEN stationary, curriculum...)*****
