BACK TO SCHOOL CHECK-UP~ TERRACYCLE REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

Do you remember our last post about TerraCycle called Making Trash Green? You should definitely check it out if you didn't already read it.

Basically, schools, churches and groups of all kinds form a brigade and start collecting! There are brigades for drink pouches, Bear Naked, Huggies, and Ziploc bags- to name a few. You simply collect and send- then TerraCycle makes a donation to your non-profit or a charity of your choice.

TerraCycle then takes the trash and makes it into something not-so-trashy.

Drink pouches become fences...

Circuit boards become clipboards...

and Flavia fresh packs become garden pavers!!

Impressive! And these are only a few recycled and up-cycled products that TerraCycle makes.

Home Grown Families got the chance to review a Capri Sun drink pouch lunch box and 2 different drink pouch pencil cases!

I was able to put a yogurt, a fruit cup and a sandwich in the lunch bag- then cover it with an ice pack.



And it's sized perfectly for little Munchkins!



Mugsy and Knuckles put crayons in the pencil case to see how much it would hold- quite a bit actually! And this is not the big pouch!



I LOVED watching my baby and my big girl do this together! What a Montessori-style activity! Mugsy learned about 'in & out,' grasping, moving, textures and working with a specific purpose in mind. She only had to see her sister do it once before she caught on- she sooooo wants to be a big girl! Knuckles did some texture work and learned about how much is enough (so we could still close it) and had to take some away- then put a few back. (The pink lid was how many crayons fit in the pouch!)

Next time you are out and about look for TerraCycle products! We need to support these companies that are 'real green'!
