Tattoodles: Princess of???????

Did you see Melissas post: What message are we sending to our children??

Check it out.

I just wanted to add my experience at Toys R' Us. We were shopping for the girls B-day (they get to pick out a present each) and I caught this out of the corner of my eye:

I made a mental note of the name so I could check it out online. I didn't want the girls to see it because The Princess would have decided that she HAD to have it. At times, I think her life goal is to DRIVE ME CRAZY wanting whatever it is she is not allowed to have (Bratz is #1 on that list!)

I have NOT changed my opinion on it since the fleeting glance I caught on Saturday.

HELLO!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

It is a BABY with TATTOOS!!!! How is this OK?!?!?!?!? AND they call her "Tattoodles PRINCESS Surprise Tattoo Doll"

Princess?!??!?!?!?!?

OF WHAT????????

She even has a belly shirt!!!!

All she is missing is a can of Coors Light, a Marlboro Red and a tape of her segment on Maury.
Tattoodles: "Maury. I am 100 Million% sure he is the father of my baby."
Maury: "You are NOT the father!"
And we know- she runs off Maurys stage with her face in her hands and her tattooed stretch marks showing under the belly shirt...
And Maury promising they will test 100 guys if they have to...

I just can't take it. This is getting ridiculous. There IS such a thing as decency and it IS OK to tell your kids "NO!"

Do you agree? Are dolls like this appropriate?

What message are we sending to our children??

Totally agree with you. There are a lot of Barbies that I don't allow my kids to have because of their lack of clothing. It's ridiculous.

I totally disapprove of the belly shirt and short skirt. The tatoos I could pass off as those fun "temporary tattoos" I let me kids do those (but not on the face or anywhere they'd have to lift their clothes to show their friends. learned those the hard way!)

First of all, no these dolls are totally inappropriate. They may it hard for any parent of a little girl to want to buy her child a doll.

With that being said, I did find a great alternative at Toys-R-Us. The Journey Girl dolls are age appropriate dolls that lack piercings and tattoos and are completely CLOTHED! (What a new concept.)

BTW, I'm giving away some Seventh Generation products in case you're interested. :)

NOT GOOD at all. And we wonder why our children are turning out the way they are these days?!? Not only does this doll promote tattoos, it also promotes immodesty!

I agree with you. This doll is completely inappropriate. I don't like the idea of giving any young girl a doll that's wearing mid-drifts and mini-skirts, but what's especially disturbing to me is the fact that the doll looks like a baby or small child. At least if it's on a Barbie...she's supposed to be an adult (not that it's much better). I don't care for the tattoos either (especially on a small child). I don't know why these dolls all have to be half-naked!

I was all upset when North Laurel Home and School sent us over here today -but then I read your post. And seriously at 12:40 on a day when both boys had to delve into something new in Math and English - I really needed to read this post. :) Funny. A belly Shirt Beer Drinkin Tatted Baby Doll. I Love It. I suppose there's a market out there somewhere for it.

Totally inappropriate! There was a barbie a couple of years ago with several tattoos. Also Bratz babies have belly shirts and a TON Of makeup!! No Bratz at all allowed in our house or dolls with tattoos or clothing that is not modest!

I agree with you and when I read the bit about Maury, I had to laugh out loud. I live in a town full of these people. It's sad really.

I Just wanted to say that they've had this dol around since 1994 (in different clothes and packaging of course). I'm 20 now and I've had this doll since I can remember. It didn't damage me one bit. I'm a successful college student with a 4.0 gpa. I've never done drugs, never drank, and never got a tattoo.

When I was a kid, I used the tattoos more on myself then the doll when I got older (the doll had to be replaced because it was lost a move). It was more like pretend play then serious life changing moments. It didn't make me want a tattoo any more then playing racecar made me want to be a racecar driver or playing power rangers made me want to be a ninja. I also don't think the clothes matter. Chances are the doll is going to end up naked or in new clothes anyway.

I think parents now a days are way too over-protective. Not everything influences a child.
