Handmade, not plastic, and inspires creativity- What could be any better???

Once in a blue moon, a site comes along that absolutely captivates me. I honestly spent over 2 hours looking at this site..........and I typically have a very short attention span. Man, do I wish I was kid again! Why wasn't this shop open then. Okay, no more suspense.....................I present to you MAMA MAY I!!

This Mama says.......YES YOU MAY!! Play to your hearts content, love these toys, and let your imagination run wild. Do not be distracted by the television my child, let these natural toys bring your imagination to life!! Learn, love, and play!

Mama May I is an amazing little Etsy shop, that offers the cutest Montessori wooden toys ever- all made by another mom with the same feelings about parenting as me:

Mama, Mama, May I explore?

So curious are our little ones. I believe that they learn through play and exploration. When I was pregnant I asked my Grandma for words of wisdom when it comes to raising children. She simply told me: "Don't say no unless you have to, and if you say no, mean it." These are words we try to live by in our home - a world of exploration, experimentation, and play for our little girl. I believe she makes sense of her world, through sensing her world - like a little scientist hard at work. The more opportunities our little ones are given to discover, the bigger their scope of learning and understanding. I create with this philosophy in mind. So dive in - make a splash, a scribble, or an inquisitive fiddle on the memories your little one makes every day. And remember just how quickly little chick-a-dees grow and how grown up little chick-a-dees can be.

I just love her! Okay so on to her products, we received The Family Box to review and Carrot Top was just enthralled by the little people. The first day he played with it, he actually sat the entire soccer practice( 1 hour) and played with his "fwamly".


There are sooo many possibilities with these little wooden people. Sometimes the big person was the Daddy, sometimes it was Grandma(Sorry mom LOL) and that's why the clean slate people are so magnificent! You can put them in size order, practice standing them up, put them in their sleep sacks and put them to bed. Carrot Top would put them in and out of their bags. Tuck them all in with their color matching felt pillows and then WAKE UP he would say. I could not stop smiling. His imagination was running wild all while learning his colors, sizing, and working out his fine motor skills.


All 6 members of the little family, has a color dot on the bottom that corresponds with a matching sleeping bag and felt pillow. I sat down with Carrot Top and talked about the colors and got an entire lesson in his little camping trip he made them go on.


My favorite moment with this little Family box, was when he made his baby sister doll lay next to the wooden doll that was him, and he sang her a lullaby. He just sat next to these little wooden figurines singing a song, that although I couldnt make out a single word meant so much to him. Okay, I sat there and bawled but hey that's what mama's do.



This would make a perfect gift for that special child in your life. It's not too late to get one for Christmas, but this would also make a wonderful addition to any classroom. HINT HINT- My family- I want everything she offers for the kids :)
