Baby Raves: Tummy Tub Baby Bath

Baby Raves: Tummy Tub

Transitioning from the womb to this big world, can be overwhelming for new little ones. Tummy Tub was developed by physicians, midwives, and nursery nurses to ease this transition. This upright womb like bath tub allows baby to bathe in the position he is most comfortable in; the fetal position. Due to her prematurity, Lil still has a slight startle reflex and when lying in a flat tub she freaks out! She likes to be snug and secure, and I think the water being all around her is very comforting not only for her startling but also for her reflux. The small surface area of this tub means the water stays warm longer- I actually get both kids cleaned in it and the water is still warm! Making our video debut- here is Lil, Carrot top and Mommy with the Tummy Tub!

video

Comfort to Mom was also taken into consideration when Tummy Tub was created! It is lightweight and easy to carry around! This tub is lead, BPA, and phthalate free which gives me great comfort! I would consider this a great eco friendly alternative to a traditional baby bath tub because it uses less water and is 100% reusable/recyclable! In 5 years this will make the perfect car wash bucket or mop bucket! Think of how many other baby tubs end up in the dump!

Carrot Top loves it too! (He is wearing a swim diaper :))

He always wants in the "box", and I love the opportunity to sponge bathe him. There are not many moments in the day that it is just us, so I have been loving Tummy Tub for giving me that! The tub can handle up to 35 lbs, and as you can see the water will rise to accommodate a bigger baby! The fill line is only 5 inches tall, so water is not being wasted with this tub! We have been using the Natural Silk Sea Sponge for bath times, and will NEVER go back to a simple wash cloth! Soft, renewable, and pesticide free!

Check out Tummy Tub for yourself on their website, you can also find them on Twitter and Facebook! If you stop by, please let them know Home Grown Families sent you! Be sure to check out the adorable stand/step stool that you can get to go along with your Tummy Tub!

BUY IT: You can pick up a Tummy Tub for $42.00 on their site, available in 4 colors: Clear, Green, Pink, and Blue. Also available on their site is the natural sponge for $6.99, and the stool/stand for $55.

Tot school: 27 mths!

Monday, March 29, 2010

This is a snippet of our weeks adventures- Carrot Top is 27 mths!

We had a date at the nature center. He LOVED the reptile stuff! He is all boy!

He was fascinated with the black birds. It is probably is favorite sign.

He wasn't as fond of the nature walk though. He stopped to look at every pine cone etc.

We visited a Japanese Steakhouse with the boys, and Carrot Top just grinned the whole time! he loved it!

Searching for dino eggs!

After cleaning our my freezer, I let him play in the sink with the ice! He melted it, stirred it, and poured! Highlight of the week!

Working on a great Big/Little matching puzzle I borrowed from the library.

We went boating this week, and he LOVED it! He was crazy though, and so was I. I made a very bad parenting move and didn't put a vest on him. It is a HUGE boat, and we were in the cabin a lot so I just didn't think about it. On the way back to the dock, he tried climbing over and I thank God for keeping him safe when I didn't. I am so glad I didn't have to learn from my mistake. I will never ever bring him on a boat again and not put a vest on him. I don't know how I could have been so stupid. Anyways, here he is LOVING it!

Dinosaur Eggs.................

Saturday, March 27, 2010

This week we spent very little time at this school table, because we were out every day exploring and crafting! I felt a little bad that I wouldn't have much to share with you guys, but my husband had to remind me that I school for them not for you. LOL I guess sometimes we bloggers get wrapped up in the blogging, and need a reality check! I just want happy readers! :)

Anyhoo, The boys had a blast making these paper mache dinosaur eggs with some friends! We will be finishing them up next week with another layer and some paint!

We used a simple no cook flour and water recipe 1:1 What a messy craft but a ton of fun! I have no idea what this face is all about!

All the kiddo's dinosaur eggs!

After reading all about raptors last week the boys wanted to pretend to be raptors! I had them go on a egg hunt for yummy eggs to eat just like raptors!

This picture is my favorite! What a great little actor he is!

We are still finishing up our lap book, and I will be posting pictures soon of that and our finished fossils and Volcano!

Safety Tattoo Review and Giveaway!

Another mother asked me once while we were at the park " What is that all over your children's arms?". It was marker, and permanent marker at that. It was sadly not of their own doings. I had written all over their arm in BIG BLACK PERMANENT MARKER, my lost child request. If lost please call Melissa at 123-4567! Now, while Fast Eddy knows all the information already since it has been drilled into his brain, the neurotic mommy in me wonders if he is lost that it will all wash away from the fear of being lost. In a moment of crisis will he remember it? I need to fear no more, SAFETY TAT to the rescue!

Gone is the toxic permanent marker, and tacky words all over their arms. Safety Tats are temporary tattoos with all your information on them! Fun for the kids to wear and a must have during the summer to give mom peace of mind. We will be visiting Disney World this summer, and I am so glad I will have Safety Tats for my kids to wear.

You can customize these tattoos with any information you want, or order blanks ones so you can write in your phone number! You can also order medical alert tattoos for your kiddo for allergies etc. I was given the opportunity to review both the original tattoos and the quick stick write on tats! This is the quick stick on Fast Eddy! I was highly impressed with the quality! Since putting it on his arm, he has worn it for 4 days and gone swimming without it wearing off! These can last up to 2 weeks!

The original tats can be customized with one or two lines and come in tons of adorable designs! These are traditional tats that are applied with warm water! Each package comes with instructions and you can also check out a how to video on their website. Safety Tats recommend that these are changed daily.

These are the tats that bring kids back! I am so glad I do not have to worry about my kiddos forgetting the important stuff in a time of crisis. I plan on using Safety Tats a lot this summer! Be sure to check out their links for theme park safety!

BUY IT: Safety Tats can be purchased on their website, and they are offering all Home Grown Families readers a 10% off discount on all purchase $15 or more! Just use code: HomeGrownFamilies This code is good until April 9th!

WIN IT: Safety Tats has generously offered to give away a sample pack of the Quick Stick Write on Tattoos to 2 Winners! You can choose from boy, girl, or multi-pack!

My little Preemie Princess

Lil has been up to a few new things lately! After much prayer and thought we have decided to start her on some baby food. She shows a clear oral aversion, but I have 5 weeks before the Drs are going to look into it further. That is alot of time for me to make her like it! :) The GI Dr. would like to do a swallow study at 9 months of age, to see why she is not eating solids and why she is still choking. I worry about aspiration with the baby food.

Here is her first time with baby food- and commercial at that. I am unable to make her food becasue I can not get it smooth enough. It is safer for her to have the jarred kind.

The bib got more than she did! This is going to be a rough road. I am just happy she is gaining weight. The only reason the Drs are not pursuing it now is her weight, they feel she is okay to wait another month.

On another note she is moving A LOT now! This is how I found her after leaving for a minute!

She is getting stronger each day and I am hoping she will be sitting up by next month. Here is a picture from dinner the other night at a Japanese Steakhouse. She was mesmorized by it all. I LOVE having this beautiful baby girl. God is so great!

Baby Raves: Crafty Baby Cloth Ball Review

Okay, so I have a mild obsession with cloth toys. The idea of a baby gnawing on a PVC or BPA covered plastic toy would make anyone convert. Since we all are not crafty enough to make some adorable cloth alternatives, Crafty Baby is here to feed the obsession. They make and sell great products like a fabric clutch ball, nap mats and toddler pillows. I had the opportunity to review the Hot dot pink clutch ball, and it is a hit around here!

This adorable ball measures 7' in diameter and includes 4 sections for baby to grip onto. The sections are tied in the middle with a fabric strip, which I found great to hold onto for Lil to play with on my lap. I was not about to bend over 10000 times to pick it up off the floor! It has a few jingle balls inside for baby to enjoy. It is 100% washable and 100% safe for baby to gnaw on. Feed the obsession!

BUY IT: You can pick up a cloth clutch ball of your own at Crafty Baby for $16.50 in lots of different patterns and colors. Be sure to check out Crafty Baby on Facebook and Twitter! You can also sign up for their newsletter for updates on new products and patterns!

DISCLAIMER: I was not paid for this post. I was given a product to review, and I have provided my own honest opinion. Thank you, Crafty Baby for allowing us to review your ball. You can view our PR policies here.
