This weekend was our Awana Grand Prix. The girls had sooooo much fun!
Our church is FULL of Boy Scouts- and 5 or 6 Eagle Scouts- so I knew that we had NO chance of winning for speed. In fact, one Dad said "I've made about 20 of these." (He has 6 sons!)
So, what do you do when you know you're already left in the dust?
You go for DESIGN!!!
And when you're going for looks you can *bend* the rules just a smidgen...
The Princess and her Spring Car! It broke the rules on height and width...

This is Knuckles 2nd Birthday Car. The 1st one took an unexpected turn when we had to fix the wheel... It broke the rules in height and weight- being 2 oz over the 5 oz limit!! (I informed the judges. Her wheel was so severely broken that there was no danger of her winning a race anyway. If she happened to win the other racer would win by default.)
They got to race each other. The Princess won- barely.
TAAA-DAAA!!!
The Princess won 1st place for design and Knuckles won 2nd!!
They were so excited!! Lots of *SQUEEEE* and jumping around...
I am so proud of them!!

LOL! I love it! And hey, sometimes rules are made to be broken. ;)
I was always jealous of my brothers having the Pinewood Derby and they never cared about it, so I always ended up doing their cars for them. I would have loooved to do something like this. :D

Our Awana race is coming up soon, too. We have always went for design. We keep his cars lined up on display because we are so proud of them. :)
I have no idea what to do for this year. :/
