Wordless Wednesday W/ LINKY

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

So, the other day we found a half made nest in our clothes pin bag.  We thought it was abandoned because the bag is in a high traffic area.

So, yesterday, during the 10 mins of the day we were rain free, I went outside to hang clothes.  The good Lord, ever protecting his creation, whispered in my ear to check before I stuck my hand in the bag.  Guess what I found!

It's a good thing I checked first!  If I had touched those eggs the mother might have rejected them!  I did catch a glimpse of the mother (father?) today.  I tried to get a pic of her perched on the rim of the bag but she flew away too quickly.

But, when I peeked in today guess what I found~ a 4th egg!!  So, either Mama is still making babies or her nest has become the local drop off.

So, I have heard Spring is coming~ although in Northern PA you would never guess it.  But, if the birds are laying eggs Spring is surely on it's way~ even if it is taking it's precious time in getting here!!

Happy Wordless Wednesday!!

I think it's a good sign that the birds are busy, even if they choose inconvenient locations. We have also been have freezing temps and snow. Come on spring.

That is such an amazing surprise!

I have to laugh about what you said about Northern PA. I went to college not to far from Lake Erie, and I swear that darn lake effect snow did not melt until May! lol

That is awesome.
I have got to go check out the wreath on our front porch. We have a nest in it and have had baby robins in it for two years now.

I didn't realize you are in Northern Pa. So are we!

That is so wonderful you will be able to watch them grow and learn to fly:) You will need to buy a new clothes pin bag and pegs tho as you won't be able to use this one again:) Birds are not know for their hygiene:)

Oh I love nests! Every year we get cardinal "couples" (dad is pretty in red, mom is not so pretty in brownish) nesting in our backyard and I am always trying to take pics with a photo lens when they take turns to come out and play. Thank you for sharing this!
