It's a book about Attached Parenting. Whoopee, right? We all have 3 of them gathering dust in the corner.
But, this book is different!! It's a book on Attached Parenting for Attached Children!! Something that we've never seen before~ and we've been missing out.
The author:
Jan Hunt, B.A. Psychology (Magna cum Laude), M.Sc. Counseling Psychology, is the Director of the Natural Child Project, an attachment parenting/unschooling counselor, and a member of the Board of Directors of the CSPCC (Canadian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children). She is also a member of the advisory boards of Holistic Moms Network, Child-Friendly Initiative, and Attachment Parenting International.
The story is about a baby that discovers a present. Then the baby goes on to question himself as to what is in the box.
Is it a stroller? But, baby likes being carried. Is it a crib? But, baby likes snuggling with his Mom and Dad at night. What if it's a bottle? Baby likes nursing!
This sweet book, with even sweeter pictures, is perfect for any Attached family. It doesn't go into long explanations about why we are Attached, it's just about being Attached. This simple read {that is written in both English and Spanish} is for your children; it tells them "We don't use a pacifier because Mommy and Daddy sooth you." It doesn't say "Well, Mommy and Daddy have done our research and we have discovered that children who are raised this way grow up to be better adjusted adults with less instances of drug and alcohol abuse." No, in this book, Attached Parenting is just the way it is done. No questions asked~ no explanations given.
Mugsy loved this book and we talked about the things in it. She recognized the boobies, stroller and crib among other things. We had a good time talking about what was going on and what we thought was in the box. And, there is a surprise ending that will delight any child!
Home Grown Families definitely recommends this book for every family! It would be a perfect gift for any baby shower! Even experienced Attached families would enjoy this book!
