Pray For Me Mondays

Sunday, February 27, 2011

JAMES 5:16
"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." (NIV)

PSALMS 116:2
"Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live" (NKJV)

It's time for 'Pray For Me Monday' at Home Grown Families.

The rules are simple!

1.) Leave your request (or a link to your post) in the comment section
2.) Pray for someone else if you can

Don't forget to check this article at OMF titled Praying For Others

I don't like to go too many weeks without asking for a prayer for myself. I am not immune to needing prayer and it's hypocritical to encourage you to ask for prayer without being able to ask for myself.

If you want to pray for me this week, please pray for me to be able to manage my time better. I really need God to intervene in my schedule. :)

SPECIAL Pray for me Monday~ WE NEED YOUR PRAYERS NOW!!!

Friday, February 25, 2011

One of our dear followers, AmyLynn, linked up on Pray For Me Mondays this week. She has a request for a friend of hers that went in for surgery to remove a cyst on her brain only to find a tumor that had spread into her skull.

Kristin Wheeler is a 36 year old Mom to 4 and a Pastors wife. There is doubt she is going to survive this.

I wanted to write a special post to alert as many of you as possible to her situation. Please, please, please- pray for this woman and her family. Her doctors, her kids and her church could all use prayers as well!

There is a FB page called Praying for Kristin Cook Wheeler and family. Please, join it and start praying. If you want to know how to help specifically please contact Janelle by sending her a mssg through FB.

Also, would you please bring this woman and her family to the attention of your Pastor, your Bible Study, Moms in Touch- where ever you are around Christian people. As the Lord says "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in the midst of them." Matthew 18:19-20

So, please- let's get serious about praying for this woman!!

HELP! I'M DROWNING....

So, I know we've been doing BARE MINIMUM on here the last 2 weeks.

Sorry!

Both Melissa and I are a tad 'behind' at the moment... I can only speak for me so:
  1. I QUIT THE JOB!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!! I'll write more about that soon but for now I'll just say it was a good thing! I've been job free for 2 weeks and am just now getting caught back up with my life.
  2. I managed to SLIGHTLY slip my L5 vertebrae so I've been in pain lately. I've been going to bed early to help with that. Constant pain is exhausting! I start physical therapy next week.
So, really, those are the 2 major things that have been contributing to my slacking. I have some great things planned for the near future inc:
  1. why I quit my job and what God revealed to me during that time
  2. Part 2 of 'Why stalking is Another Bad Idea'
  3. Things your kids school janitor doesn't tell you
  4. catching up on 365
  5. several other things that I am too beat to recall right now...
So, stick around. We'll be back and it'll be good!

365 Days to Green~ Day #51 (2/21)~ PaperMate Biodegradable Pens and Pencils Review

Monday, February 21, 2011

There are some things you just can't get around buying- like:

toothpaste
deodorant
food
pens...
so, if you have to buy these things why not buy the most eco-friendly and environmentally responsible products available?

I've got an answer for that last one:

Yep! PaperMate makes a line of biodegradable pens and mechanical pencils!!

There are even instructions on how to *get this* HOME COMPOST your pen or pencil!!
I was lucky enough to get a few of these pens and pencils from Papermate and I LOVE THEM!! They are comfortable to hold and write just as smoothly and clearly as any other pen!

I definitely recommend buying Papermate Biodegradable!

Product Review- Boba 2G Baby Carrier

If you have been an avid Home Grown Families reader, you already know how much we love babywearing. It is almost an addiction, I swear. I just love baby carriers, definitely more than shoes. I have just added the new Boba Baby Carrier to my collection, and boy does it fit in great. I think the others are getting a little jealous of all this action the Boba is getting. Haters.

Life is full of adventures, and baby should be near mama for every step of the way! The Boba Organic Baby carrier allows for babies to experience the world all while in the comfort of mommy's reach.

The Boba Organic Carrier is great for children 15-45 lbs. (Looking for a great newborn carrier, check out the Sleepy Wrap made by the same company). It is made from 100% organic materials, and is made in the U.S.A!! It comes with fully adjustable waist, shoulder, and chest straps so it can accommodate moms and dads! Like many other structured carriers, it allows for front and baby carry's, and is quite comfortable with the high density foam waistband.

Why buy a Boba Baby Carrier? What makes it different?
  • #1 Feature.......Has foot straps for your toddlers feet to rest in. These straps allow baby to sit in a healthy frog like sitting position, which naturally tilts the pelvis, fills out the hip sockets, and aligns the spine. Many other carriers allow baby's feet to dangle which could create tension on the spine. These straps also ensure good blood flow and no more red marks on the back of the legs.
  • Higher back than other structured carriers. Leaves baby feeling more secure and mom more confident that baby will not lean out. It's funny I had a few people put their hand on her as she leaned back stating "Oh, she is going to fall out", and I just giggled and said "Oh no, She won't fall out of this carrier".
  • I love the simplicity! The straps have built in padding, so you never have to adjust, and there is no pockets, or additional accessories to bulk it up. Sweet and to the point.
  • Removable Hood, so you can make it even simpler looking. This is the only carrier I own with a fully removable hood. Lil refuses to have a hood over her, so if it is not needed, than no need to keep it on.
  • Following along with the clean look, it comes with elastic loops so you can neatly roll up your straps. This feature really helps when you are throwing baby on your back, less for your hands to catch on.
  • Zero learning curve. This is a great beginners baby carrier. If you are new to wearing a toddler, than go with the Boba Baby Carrier.

I must admit life is so much "funner" with a baby on your back :)

BUY IT- Check out the Organic Boba Baby Carrier today. It is available for purchase for $118.00, choose from Walnut(Brown), Pine(Green/Brown), Chesnut (Tan/Brown), and Willow(Tan/Green).

Check them out on Facebook if you have any questions, and to see more pictures of the Boba in action.

DISCLAIMER: I was not paid for this post. I was given a product to review, and I have provided my own honest opinion. Thank you, Boba Baby Carrier for allowing us to review your product. You can view our PR policies

Eco-Friendly Review & Giveaway~ Plein Air Life Sugar Scrub and Lip Balm

    I am converted.

But, first let me tell you: I do not use soap.

For real. I don't use soap or body wash in the shower. If I'm extra sweaty or dirty I do but 99% of the time I don't. You don't need to. Most of the stuff you buy now just strips moisture from your skin. Water washes away the gross stuff and leaves your natural moisturizers where they belong. I've been doing this for years and no one has ever told me I stink- and, believe me, my family would tell me!

So, since I don't shop for soap or body wash I have never been introduced into the world of sugar scrubs- and boy, have I been missing out.

Especially on Plein Air Life brand!

When they contacted me about a review and giveaway I thought 'I'll try it but...' Well, my 'but' turned into 'Wow!' I've been missing out, for sure!

I was lucky enough to review the Lavender Rosemary sugar scrub. Now, I am the one person in the world who doesn't like the smell of lavender- I think it smells like deodorant. Weird, but it's true. However, this scrub didn't smell like deodorant! It smelled wonderful! And, there was real rosemary! It wasn't just an oil- you could have picked out the rosemary, washed it off and cooked with it.

The first time I used it I took a scoop with my fingers and rubbed it on my arm. It felt sooooo good! As I rubbed it in and let the water wash it away I noticed the water beading on my arm. I ran my fingers over it and felt the oil softening my skin. There is no doubt about it, this scrub is PERFECT for replenishing the moisture winter strips away from your skin.

The Gourmet Lip Balm was just as amazing! I know I don't post too many pictures of me on here but... I have big lips. I don't know where they came from but they are large enough that you notice 'hey, her lips are big.' So, the winter time can be extra painful for me. I am always fighting with chapped lips but trying not to use anything that ends up requiring even more product to keep them hydrated- as most lip balms on the market do. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Gourmet Lip Balm moisturizes without setting me up for more dryness when the product wears off. I could feel the tingle of the menthol as it covered my lips in a layer of protection. I love it!

BUY IT- Buy Plein Air Life sugar scrubs for $20 for 9 oz and Gourmet Lip Balm for $3.75.
FB fans get 10% off every order!
