Old Time Candy~ Candy You Ate As A Kid~ 4 lb Decade Assortment Review & Giveaway

Welcome to the 2nd annual From Our Hearts to Yours Valentine’s Day Giveaway Hop hosted by Life With Two Boys and With Our Best.

Each blog participating has a prize of at least $25 worth of Valentine-related items so after you have entered my giveaway,  hop along and see what the other bloggers are giving away,  too!

Why do people buy the heart shaped Valentines Day chocolates from the grocery store or pharmacy?  I've always looked at them as the Paris Hilton of Valentines Candy~ they look pretty but they're not any good...

So, what can you get instead?  How about something that brings back memories, has variety, and actually tastes good?  Old Time Candy has you covered!  Old Time Candy is a family run internet store that was founded in 1999 after Karen and Donny discovered that the candy from their childhood was still being manufactured.

Today, OTC ships the candy from your childhood directly to your door.  You can look at their virtual candy aisle to get an idea of all they offer.  With over 300 different kids of candy from which to choose, you're sure to find what you're looking for!  You can also narrow the field by Searching by decade or by type.

Old Time Candy also offers Retro Toys!  Are you looking for a metal slinky dog?  A metal Sheriff's badge?  Wind Up Chattering teeth?  A metal Kazoo?  They've got 'em!

But, what we're here to talk about is the Decade Boxes!  Available in 2 or 4 lb boxes, Decade Boxes are filled with candy from the decade of your choice!
Decade Boxes are candy assortments from the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s or All Decades, available in two sizes. The 4 lb box measures 12 x 9 x 3 inches and is jammed with over 70 of your old time favorites. The 2 lb box is 9.5 x 7 x 3 inches with over 40 pieces of candy, 35 different candies.
Check out the Decade Lists to find out what's in each box.  There are so many awesome candies!  Wax lips, Turkish Taffy and Clark bars, oh my!

We chose the 70's decade box and we all LOVED it!  It was full of candy~ plenty for all 6 of us!
My girls loved going through the candy and talking to my Mom about all of it.  I heard my mom say "I remember these!" about a dozen times.  She smiled the whole time and told us about "penny candy" that was, indeed, only a penny, how they would find change on the ground and use it to buy candy, the candy store and soda fountains, and all the fun summers running around with her friends and pockets full of candy.  I thought it was funny that my dad picked the Turkish Taffy and I had never heard of it.  It was truly fun!  My girls also discovered Candy Buttons for the first time.

You can also personalize your Decade Box for Valentines Day!  Simply pick one of their backgrounds and personalize it!  They'll attach it to your Decade Box and ship it to you!

I can not say enough good about this company or our box of candy from the 70's.  It was truly a great experience~ so much more than a box of candy!!

BUY IT: You can buy Decade Boxes on the Old Time Candy site starting at $24.

I am a big dip girl, too! My fave is a variation on artichoke dip -- we call it two-hearts-dip. Artichoke hearts, hearts of palm and lots of cheese. YUM!
