She gave it all.........................#5minuteFriday

That's my Mom........The one who gives her all in everything she does. Growing up with my single mom, meant she worked 3 jobs to ensure I had everything I wanted. I never went without toys, clothes, or food, and certainly never went without love and attention. I admire her strong work ethic and continued pursuit of a higher education. She has inspired me to press on with my own education and to ALWAYS encourage my children to be all that they can be. I am so very proud of my mom for the accomplishments she has earned in her life. She never allowed poverty or teen pregnancy to hold her back. She has set an amazing example for my siblings and I.

That's my Mom.........the one making sure she proves you wrong. I grew up being told to never back down and always push on for the things you desire. Just because you are a single mom, or just because you didn't finish high school......does not mean you should not become something great. Ignorance is not a choice. "Do not let the social norms dictate your life". In a society where men lead the workforce, my mom encouraged me to seek out whatever job I wanted and insisted that I have a career even if I didn't intend on using it.

I feel so blessed to have been pushed hard to work hard and support my family in every way possible. That's my mom................the one reminding me never to settle but to reach for the stars in all you do.

Another week of 5 Minute Friday brought to you by Lisa Jo Baker at The Gypsy Mama! Each week for 5 minutes flat you write on a chosen topic....just write. No editing, no primping, just truth on blog land.
