Did you know that 71% of Earth is underwater? Imagine all that is yet to be discovered……there is a whole new world under the sea! The Seas at Epcot houses the second largest saltwater aquarium in the WORLD~ and it is full of beautiful colors, interactive experiences, and of course amazing creatures to learn about! On my visit to Walt Disney World for the celebration of Monkey Kingdom, we spent the day at Epcot for the 2015 Flower and Garden Festival (Check out 10 Characters you will love in plant form) and I could have stayed in The Seas all day! There is soooo much to explore!
Epcot’s Sea Base has multi levels to explore so plan to spend a long deal of time there! It is great for all ages~ and presents the perfect time to escape the heat or the rain (Also great to nurse the baby, rest, and take nice clean bathroom break!)! My favorite is the Caribbean Coral reef which is one the largest man made ocean environments in the world, and is home to over 4,000 creatures from 60+ species in 5.6 million gallons of water! You will find sharks, turtles, sting rays, tropical fish and more. All the tanks are floor to ceiling so little ones can be face to face with the glass.
*Diver Certified? Epcot’s Divequest offers an amazing opportunity for certified divers to explore the Caribbean coral reef and have a once in a lifetime opportunity to see all these sea creatures up close!
Explore the speciality tanks that provide breathtaking views of some of your favorite sealife!
You can even find creatures that you have never seen before. Have a question? Look around as they have staff members everyone just waiting to answer your questions. Check out these adorable miniature hippo looking things that I tweeted like crazy about (Follow me on Twitter to find more facts)! They are actually cuttlefish, but to me they will always be the cutest hippos I have ever seen!
Epcot’s The Seas is also home to many bottlenose dolphins, and Disney continues to do daily research on these majestic creatures. During your walk through of The Seas, you will find the dolphins interacting with the divers and trainers! I learned that for a more personal hands on dolphin experience, Epcot offers a behind the scenes dolphin tour “ Disney’s Dolphins in Depth“.
We were able to catch one of the shows showing off their language skills and I was sooo impressed by their vocals! Check out our video below to listen to the dolphins sing.
Epcot’s The Seas is also home to Turtle Talk with Crush and The Seas with Nemo and friends ride….both family MUST DO’S while visiting Epcot! The Seas will easily become your favorite attraction at Epcot~ perhaps it’s for the air conditioning or perhaps it’s for the amazing creatures but I promise you will ♥ it!
What’s your favorite sea creature?
I was visiting Epcot while on a Disney press trip for the new Disneynature movie; Monkey Kingdom. It is in theaters now and brings you into the life of Maya and Kip, Macaque monkeys learning to live life in Sri Lanka. If you haven’t had a chance to bring your family to see the movie, check out the trailer below to get excited! It’s a wonderful movie demonstrating love, family, and the power to overcome life’s struggles. Family friendly? You bet~ read our Monkey Kingdom movie for inside information!
