Leapfrog is well known for making products that make learning fun. I know that my kids would much rather play games than sit down and do school work. As a homeschooling family, we are always trying to find new ways to make learning more enticing. Our 4 year old and 6 year old are currently working on recognizing letters and basic spelling skills……..this is where the Word Whammer comes in. To them it looks like some cool, funky, new tablet with handles. From the moment they saw it they just couldn’t wait to get it out of it’s packaging and get started.
The Word Whammer is a great learning tool for little ones. Kids get to twist and thrust the handles to activate the game functions rather than just pushing buttons. It includes three different games with three fun characters to play with. There is Penguin’s Tea Cup Twisters, Panda’s Bumper Cars, and Dragon’s Rocket Ride. All three games focus on learning letter names, sounds and word building through fun little missions. After each mission is complete, kids get to use their in game earnings to try and win prizes in the bonus claw grabber game.
There are 5 difficulty levels so learning doesn’t have to end as kids finish each game. All 3 games auto-adjust the level of difficulty to ensure the games are challenging but still fun. Starting with basic letter matching and finding sounds, advancing to spelling over 100 different words. It’s designed for ages 4-6 but, even my older kids like to play with it.
Leapfrog always does a great job of making learning fun.
