I love to give gifts that mean something…….mean more than just a gift. This Christmas 2.7 million dogs will remain in a shelter. They need homes, need love, need a family. When we bought our new home, the first thing we did was adopt 2 little dogs from our local shelter. Jasmine and Mater are brother and sister and have added such joy to our family. I couldn’t imagine life without them.
It breaks my heart to think of all the dogs and cats waiting in shelters for their forever families. Operation ResCute is fighting for these animals in a whole new way! They are aiming to educate and encourage the next generation to care for and adopt animals from shelters! They have developed a ResCute series of books with plushies for kids for this purpose.
Hopefully, the ResCUTE book and stuffed animal series will foster the development of empathic and proactive young citizens who will be responsible to their surroundings and others less fortunate.
The first book in the Operation ResCute series follows Jingles and his journey to adoption. This adorable and heart touching book is a true story about a lonely dog in New York. My children have read through the book many times, kissing their plush Jingles as they listen to the story. It brought up soo many great discussion points about shelter dogs, and why we should aim to adopt from a rescue organization or a shelter versus a pet shop or breeder. Jingles story is sad yes, but has a beautiful ending.
Besides teaching young citizens about rescuing animals, 100% of the proceeds go towards rescue efforts! Your holiday gift will impact more than just the gift receiver!
