This year we celebrated my son’s 7th birthday in a different way! I love when opportunities come up for my kids to give back to the community and have a little “fit” fun in the process. Mud Runs and races have become sooo popular lately, and now that kids can join in….it can become a new family tradition!
This weekend we attended the Goodwill Mud Run- and let the kids get down and dirty for Goodwill!
GETTING DIRTY! Tyler was up first through thru 8 obstacles!! Even at just 4 years old, he was fast as lightning and embraced every speck of dirt with a smile! We ran along side of him encouraging him to press harder and to try his hardest even if there was no timer! It was a very non-competitive “race”, but I wanted the kids to push hard for themselves!
Next up Birthday Boy!! The Goodwill Mud Run had a child course, so little ones as young as 3 could partake! I think this was the perfect set up to get him excited about future races! At 7, he naturally pushed harder and repeated the course several times to beat his own time.
COMPLETELY UNDER WATER IN THE MUD PIT!! He never feared the dirt and was UNDERWATER in the mud (note to self……I will make them wear goggles next time!).
The kids were sooo proud of themselves for competing and completing their obstacles! While it was a small course, it was their first time and now they are pumped! These were my favorite shots of the day!
His expressions were priceless!
I was so proud of them for giving it their all! We celebrated with a dirt birthday cake! I sure do love this little man!
Keep a look out for Mud Runs in your area! They are a FANTASTIC way to get kids outdoors and moving!
