At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, in Kidani Village lies a wonderful dining experience! Sanaa restaurant is not only a unique experience, but has amazing African/Indian food. The resturant is decorated with authentic African pieces like baskets, gourds, necklaces, and beads all under the branches of the Acacia tree and lanterns. Following in line with the entire Animal Kingdom Resort, guests will feel like they are actually in Africa. The animals do help. Sanaa has tables with spectacular views of the savannah that features zebras, gazelles, ostrich, and more. Imagine eating the most wonderful tasting food ever, and having live animals right next to you while you eat. Just magical!
The views are great and the food is even better! Savor slow cooked meats, salads, and vegetarian specialties……..but every meal should start with the Indian Style bread service. Guests can choose to order just a few dips and a bread, but everyone~ everywhere should try them all. Bread choices of Naan, Garlic-ginger Naan, Onion Kucha, or spiced Naan~ how could you choose just one! Then……..you get to the dips. There are 9 different dips to taste, each one equally delicious: spicy red chili sambal, sweet mango chutney, roasted red bell pepper hummus, tamarind chutney, coconut chutney, garlic pickle, cucumber raita, spicy jalapeno lime pickle, and coriander chutney.
The meal continues with fresh salads that are completely out of the box! I indulged in a trio of salads ~ all with the freshest ingredients including my FAVORITE Chickpea, cucumber, and tomato salad. When you choose your 3, be sure that salad is one of them!
The heirloom salad was soooo worth mentioning. The tomatoes were picked at perfection and each one had a flavor all of it’s own!
One thing I ♥ about Sanaa is that they offer a large variety of vegetarian options! The entree features your choice of 3 selections~ anything with paneer cheese is great in my book!
Your 4 course meal is finished off with dessert- again with a trio to enjoy! The edible butterfly was the perfect way to end the meal~ stuffed and deliriously happy.
Want to know one way you could make this meal even better? Dine with an animal specialists for an “untamed” lunch! On my interview with Greg Peccie, ( Into the ♥ of Animal Kingdom Lodge) he shared with me a new program that Sanaa offers. Families can share their lunchtime with an animal specialist, like Greg Peccie and learn more about the animals at Animal Kingdom Lodge. While enjoying a 4 course meal, you can ask your animal specialists any questions you may have!
A portion of the costs of this program goes towards the Disney Wildlife Conservation fund~ so you can not only learn more about them but you can support them too! Want to learn more about Macaque monkeys? Go see Monkey Kingdom– which is in theaters everywhere!
